Opening & Closing Ceremony
One of the most important ways to make your retreat a surefire success is to create a proper container for you and your guests. Opening & Closing Ceremonies are a really special way to make sure of that. They help participants to find out why they have come, get clear on their intentions, and feel a sense of both settling into and honoring what they have learned about themselves throughout the retreat experience. This can include calling in the directions, introductions, setting intentions, sharing circles with a talking feather, pulling cards, allowing participants to make an offering at the temple, personal smudging, and whatever else comes through.
Closing ceremony is similar with the closing of the directions, and offers participants a chance to reflect and see what has happened for them during their retreat experience; a lovely time to drink it all in. This is a chance for guests to revisit their intentions, and witness their personal and collective growth over the course of the retreat. This offers your guests a feeling of closure, and a chance to come together, deepen their connections, and find gratitude in their hearts for such an incredible time.
The opening and closing ceremonies feel very important in self healing and self care; setting a proper container - including a special opening and closing, is the most powerful lesson we have learned from our many years as healers. Offering them as part of your retreats really just amplifies the benefits of what you offer during the week, and also gives guests a chance to connect with themselves in a ceremonial space, which is so special to experience in this lifetime!
